Elaine Wai: Very Special Mom

Elaine with Justin enjoying a train ride (except for the noise), at the Grant Rd / Covington Ave Pumpkin Patch: joined by Kari, Ailish, Gavin, Katie and Judy (in the next car). It has to be said that Elaine has a beautiful smile!

Since this Blog is intended for Justin and Meredith, I'll write to them. My sister knew your mom through the El Camino Hospital New Mom's group. Occasionally, I joined group outings and although I did not know your mom well, it was always nice to see her. What I do know about your mom, is that she always cared about people's feelings. This is a very nice trait to have.

Mostly I want to say that while your mom may not be with you physically, I feel sure that she will be with you in your moments of greatest joy, happiness and even sorrow or disappointment. Although my grandmother died when I was in my 20's and pretty much grown up, I feel her all time. Amazingly I see her most in what I think are the best parts of myself. Having read the Blog, and talked with friends and family, I know your mother was very special. One day you will see a pumpkin or a flower, not for what it is, but for the joy it brings someone you love. When that happens, I hope you'll smile and know you learned it from your mom, and she taught you just by being herself.

One day you will fall in love, and will know to look for someone who you can love with all of your heart and who will love you back, just the same. I don't think a mother can give or receive a better gift.
