Elaine's seriousness showed in how she spent her time and focus, too. Even though she didn’t marry until 1996, she was deliberately preparing to be the wife God wanted her to be even in the late 1980s! She read a book called As Iron Sharpens Iron, based on Proverbs 27:17, and she was serious about embracing the concepts in it. She wanted to be molded by God and the relationships and situations He put her in. She wanted to be everything He wanted her to be, and she was serious about becoming just that – what He wanted.
